Working with clients who have experienced trauma means building a professional, compassionate relationship with them, based on trust.
Understanding how and why trauma affects the CNS and is held both in the mind and body is essential. Listening and communicating with the client is key, and being consistent with promises, keeping tight boundaries, and understanding the role and SOP of the LMT is a crucial to the therapeutic relationship.
Fulfills Standard V: Roles and Boundaries as required by the PA State Board of Massage Therapy.
