Massage therapy continues to be more recognized and valued as a medical treatment –and many physicians recommend the services of a skilled massage therapist in expediting patient recovery following surgery.
From minor surgical procedures to major surgery such as joint replacement, your post -surgical massage skills will support patient/client recovery– and make you a valued partner surgeons can confidently send their patients to.
This class consists of approximately 1 hour lecture and discussion and 7 hours demonstration and practice of techniques. Please bring sheets, face cradle cover, and lubricant of choice.
Topics covered include:
  • Techniques to reduce edema (lymph drainage)
  • Phases of wound healing and wound management
  • Scar physiology, formation and treatment (including Cupping Therapy and Kinesiology Taping)
  • Tissue reorganization and restoration
  • Marketing your skills to surgeons
Prerequisite: Students must have completed basic Lymphatic Drainage Massage training.
